Demistifying Photography

1:1 Personal Workshops - New for 2024!

Are you new to photography and you’re confused with all of the photography jargon such as exposure triangle, aperture, & ISO?

It seems to be a recurring theme on the many Facebook groups I’m a member of. You can watch many YouTube videos but you can’t beat good old fashioned face to face advice.

This 1:1 workshop is aimed at the beginner and we look at the basics of photography starting with composition and then move on to the more technical stuff, so you have the confidence to get out there and shoot some great images.

  • Composition, its the most important aspect of photography. Its a bold statement but in my opinion it is. Even the most pin sharp, perfectly exposed image can be spoilt with a poor composition.

  • What does this dial do? The first steps are to get comfortable with the switches and dials on your camera body & lens

  • The exposure Triangle. We look at the 3 elements of getting you exposure right. We take the steps to move away from using full Auto and look at Aperture and Shutter priority as well as Auto ISO.

  • The importance of Aperture. As well as impacting on your exposure, using the aperture correctly not on affects your image quality, its a creative tool that can make your images stand out.

  • ISO, what is it, is it important when shooting digital? It definitely is!

  • Other aspect of getting the most out of you camera includes looking at focus modes & White Balance.

By the end of the session you will be more comfortable with your camera and have an understanding of the exposure triangle, F stops and shutter speeds.

The 1:1 sessions can be booked for either a morning slot of afternoon slot. Current availability is weekends only and they are priced at £55.
